Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of UTC Converter (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The service

UTC Converter is a free, browser-based tool that helps you compare timezones and schedule meetings across regions. The Service is provided as-is and may change or be discontinued at any time without notice.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service in a way that breaks any applicable law or regulation.
Attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
Scrape, replicate, or rehost the Service in a way that misrepresents its origin.
Use automated tools to generate excessive traffic, click on ads, or manipulate ad metrics.
Embed the Service inside other sites in a way that hides its origin or removes its advertising.

3. No professional advice

UTC Converter is a convenience tool. The information it provides about times, dates, and timezone offsets is generated by your browser using publicly available timezone data and may occasionally be incomplete or out of date (for example, around daylight-saving transitions or after legal changes to a country's timezone rules). You should not rely on it as the sole source of truth for legal, financial, medical, transportation, or safety-critical decisions.

4. Intellectual property

All site content, including layout, text, code and design, is provided for personal, non-commercial use within the Service. You may not copy or redistribute substantial portions of the site without permission. Third-party trademarks (such as Google and AdSense) belong to their respective owners.

5. Third-party services and links

The Service uses Google AdSense to display advertisements and may include links to other websites. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party site or service. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

6. Privacy and browser storage

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what information is collected by us and by third-party services such as Google AdSense.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that the site stores a small number of preference flags in your browser using localStorage — specifically, your 12-hour vs 24-hour clock preference and whether you want the on-screen "How to use" guide expanded. These values contain no personal information, never leave your device, and can be cleared at any time from your browser's site-data settings. See section 2 of the Privacy Policy for details.

Third-party services used by the Service (currently Google AdSense) may set their own cookies and similar identifiers, governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY DATA SHOWN BY THE SERVICE IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL TIMEZONE COMPARE, ITS OPERATORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities, so some of the above may not apply to you. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

9. Changes to the service or these terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. When we make material changes to the Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Termination

We may suspend or restrict access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms or who uses the Service in a way that risks harm to other users or the Service itself.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.

If you access the Service from outside Sri Lanka, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with any local laws that apply to you. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer-protection rights you may have under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
